We understand that caring for someone can be physically and emotionally demanding, often leaving little time for you to focus on your own wellbeing or think about your own physical health. To help carers think about the impact of caring on their health, we’re offering Health Surgeries in Midlothian.

What are health surgeries?

Our Health Surgeries provide a welcoming space for unpaid carers to discuss their health and wellbeing with a nurse from the Community Health Inclusion Team. These sessions offer advice, guidance, and practical support to help you maintain your own wellbeing while continuing to care.

What to expect

During our sessions, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Speak to healthcare professionals about any physical health concerns.
  • Learn self-care strategies to manage common issues like back pain, fatigue, and stress.
  • Get practical advice on maintaining mobility and preventing injury.

Long-term care surgeries

We understand that caring for someone can be physically and emotionally demanding, often leaving little time to think about the future. To help carers navigate long-term care planning, we offer Long-Term Care Surgeries in Midlothian.

Many carers are concerned about paying for care home fees, how much they will have to pay, and what happens to property. Some may have concerns around paying for care at home.

You can meet with an independent financial planner to explore your options. This surgery is helpful for carers where the move to long-term care may take place in the next twelve months. During the appointment, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Speak to a professional about planning for long-term care and accessing support services.
  • Learn about financial and legal considerations such as Power of Attorney and benefits.
