Caring can have a significant impact on your finances, through a reduction in working hours or earnings, loss of income if the person you care for can no longer work, or the additional costs of specialist equipment and treatment.
In our Edinburgh Carers Survey 2023, we found that over two thirds of carers disagreed with the statement “being a carer has improved my finances”, while only one third knew what financial support they could access.
VOCAL also offers free surgeries on welfare rights questions. These sessions cover:
