You can check out our directory of local holiday companies and venues to start with.

But taking a break doesn’t have to mean going away – it can also be regular social events, a meal out, or a hobby. To help you take the process step by step, you can use our planning document (Word doc)

You can also get in touch with us to speak to a carer support practitioner about how to plan your break.

Funding your break

Contact us on (Edinburgh) or (Midlothian) or 0131 622 6666 (option 2 for Midlothian).

We have funds managed by VOCAL Edinburgh or Midlothian, as well as a list of grants providers you can apply to directly. For the full list, please visit the funding page on our Wee Breaks website

VOCAL holiday homes

We have a cottage called Hawthorn Brae in Blair Atholl, and two holiday homes in Seton Sands holiday village.

In our Edinburgh Carers Survey 2023, we found that 60% of carers requested support to take a break – making it the most in-demand type of support. VOCAL’s holiday homes aim to meet carers’ need for suitable and affordable accommodation.
