Upcoming Sessions

We host open sessions monthly for practitioners based in Edinburgh and Midlothian.

Think Carer training enhances professionals’ understanding of unpaid caring, providing a valuable opportunity to reflect on how carers are identified and the impact that caring can have on a carer’s health and wellbeing.

These sessions provide valuable insights on:

  • Identifying unpaid carers: learn how to recognise carers.
  • Understanding who carers are: gain an understanding of the diverse background and circumstances of unpaid carers. We will cover the physical, emotional and financial challenges they may face because of their caring role.
  • Recognising why carers may need support: understand the impact that caring can have on a carer’s health and wellbeing and understand the importance of offering appropriate support.
  • Learning how and where to refer carers for additional support: Find out about the range of services available and how to appropriately direct carers to support.

The training will also cover essential practices from the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016, including carers’ rights and entitlements. VOCAL’s services will also be highlighted, ensuring that practitioners feel confident connecting carers to support.

No matter your role or workplace, this training can help you better support unpaid carers.
